Call your Senators and tell them to protect the Mueller investigation by passing The Special Counsel Integrity Act (S. 1741).
President Trump continues to smear the DOJ and the FBI, calls Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation a witch hunt and is now directly attacking Mueller in tweets.
Two bipartisan bills were introduced in the Senate and there have been hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee. However, the process has stalled as Republicans, reluctant to antagonize Trump, say it’s unnecessary to protect Mueller with legislation because they claim Trump will not fire him.
The Senate bill most likely to withstand judicial scrutiny is The Special Counsel Integrity Act (S. 1741) sponsored by Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Chris Coons (D-DE), which would give Mueller the ability to challenge his dismissal in court. It would also limit Trump’s ability to replace AG Sessions or DAG Rosenstein with a loyalist not confirmed by the Senate who could fire Mueller.
In light of Trump’s increasing attacks on Mueller’s investigation and recent direct attacks on Mueller, many Democrats are calling for the legislation to be enacted.
It seems inevitable that Trump will move against Mueller and his investigation. The Senate needs to act on legislation that will protect the investigation.

- Given Trump’s tweets slamming Special Counsel Mueller and his investigation, I believe it is inevitable he will try to fire him, creating a constitutional crisis.
- I urge [Sen____] to immediately announce support for The Special Counsel Integrity Act (S. 1741) and demand that the Senate move forward to pass the bill to protect the Mueller investigation.
