The Call – Special select committee on #TrumpRussia
Urge your members of Congress to support legislation creating a special select committee to investigate Russian subversion in the U.S. election and President Trump’s campaign and financial ties to Moscow. Last month, after Michael Flynn’s conversations with the Russian ambassador were revealed, it was reported that Trump aides were in constant touch with senior Russian officials during the campaign. Although Trump and his campaign repeatedly denied such contacts, it has since been revealed many campaign aides, including Paul Manafort, Carter Page, Jared Kushner, Jeff Sessions and J.D. Gordon had contacts with Russian officials during the campaign. The smoke around Russian interference in our election and possible Trump campaign collusion is getting very thick and there is little trust that a Congressional committee will do a fair and thorough investigation. Democrats have been calling for an independent investigation, either by a special prosecutor or by a select committee created by Congress (which cannot be vetoed by the President), and have introduced Senate and House bills (S.27 and H.R.356 respectively) which would authorize special select committees. Some Republicans, most prominently Senator Lindsey Graham [R-SC], have suggested a select committee may be needed. The conservative group Stand Up Republic, founded by former independent campaign ticket Evan McMullin and Mindy Finn, launched an ad campaign on Tuesday pressing for a select committee. While it is still an uphill battle to get a special select committee, progress is being made and the American people deserve answers they can trust.
Call all three of your members of Congress and ask them to support a special select committee to investigate Russian subversion of the U.S. election and President Trump’s ties to Moscow.
“Hi. This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP]. I’m calling to let [Rep/Sen____] know that I support the creation of a special select committee or a 9/11 type independent commission to investigate Russia’s actions in the election and President Trump’s reported campaign and financial ties to Moscow.
