Call to Action: Temperature Check – Where Is Your Rep on Impeachment?

Your Action

The House is in recess for two weeks. Representatives will be in their home districts and seeking to do a “temperature check” regarding the impeachment inquiry. Contact your Representative at their local office, attend a town hall, or other local event. If your Representative is already in support of the impeachment inquiry, thank them. If they have not yet publicly supported it, ask them where they are on it and why. Be sure to let them know where you stand.

Background

Early last week, the news of the whistleblower complaint implicating the President led seven moderate House Democrats who recently flipped seats in historically red districts to come out publicly in favor of impeachment.

On Wednesday, Speaker Pelosi announced that the House is launching a formal impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump. The timing coincides with evolving  public sentiment, which has slowly been shifting in favor of impeachment. A recent poll indicates a majority of Americans—53%—support an impeachment inquiry.

Trump clearly used the office of the presidency for personal gain when he pressured the Ukrainian president to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his family, and then engaged in a cover-up to hide his actions. There is no getting around it—Trump attempted to rig the presidential election.

Script

For Reps who publicly support the impeachment inquiry:

Hello [REP]. My name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP CODE].

It’s clear to me the president tried to rig the election in his favor and then conspired with his staff to cover it up. This is a clear abuse of power and violation of his oath of office.

Thank you for standing up to defend the Constitution.

For Reps who have not publicly supported the impeachment inquiry.

Hello [REP]. My name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP CODE].

It’s clear to me the president tried to rig the election in his favor and then conspired with his staff to cover it up. This is a clear abuse of power and violation of his oath of office.

We need you to take a stand to defend the Constitution. What is your position on the impeachment inquiry?
